Expansion tanks are recommended to have a capacity that is equal to at least 18% of the total cooling system capacity. (Example: a 5.3L LS Engine has a coolant system capacity of 16.7 Quarts. 18% of 16.7 Quarts is 3 Quarts, so this 3 Quart tank would work well for that application.)
